Le leader mondial renforce son centre de R&D en dermatologie avec une extension et une centaine de chercheurs supplémentaires pour son site de Biot Sophia Antipolis (Alpes-Maritimes). Le centre de recherche et développement de Galderma, leader mondial de la dermatologie avec un chiffre d’affaires de 1,6 milliard d’euros en 2012 (4 000 salariés dans le monde), a acquis un terrain de près de 2 hectares à côté de son site actuel à Biot Sophia Antipolis (Alpes-Maritimes). Il y construira un nouveau centre de R&D de 4 300 mètres carrés avec la création à terme d’une centaine de chercheurs supplémentaires. Ce nouveau bâtiment complétera les installations actuelles qui sur 20 000 mètres carrés de locaux construits en 2006 hébergent déjà 500 chercheurs. C’est le plus grand centre de recherche et développement spécialisé en dermatologie pour Galderma. Le site travaille sur les grandes maladies de la peau. C’est à Sophia Antipolis qu’a été créée l’adpalèe, molécule de traitement de l’acné. Avec l’extension prévue le centre pourra développer ses recherches pour la rosacée, le psoriasis, les onychomycoses, mes désordres pigmentaires ou les cancers cutanés. La société rappelle à cette occasion qu'elle investit chaque année près de 19 % de son chiffre d’affaires dans la recherche et le développement de nouveaux produits et l’accès aux technologies innovantes.

The world's largest R&D center specialized in dermatology: Located in southeast France, Galderma’s Sophia Antipolis facility is the largest laboratory in the world dedicated exclusively to dermatology. This state-of-the-art center is the birthplace of the adapalene molecule, the active ingredient of Differin and leading drug for the topical treatment of acne. Five hundred scientists and support staff work at the center which hosts all of Galderma's in-house research, pre-clinical and core development (clinical, pharmaceutical and biometric) activities. Since its opening at the end of 2006, this 19.300 sq meters facility accommodates our scientists with expertise ranging from genomics to proteomics, from high throughput technologies such as screening, chemistry and toxico-genomics to early pharmacokinetics…

The unit develops and improves manufacturing processes for new products, acquisitions and transfers, and supplies reference raw materials. It also produces clinical batches for trials worldwide. Industrial Development is tasked with leveraging Galderma’s technical process.
